2009 Wente Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon

| January 10, 2013

We recently discovered a great find from Wente, a family-owned winery in San Francisco, California. Dating back to 1883, this has been a 2009 wente estates cabernet sauvignonfamily passion for over 125 years.

The original Cabernet Sauvignon cuttings were imported from Bordeaux by Charles Wetmore in the 19th century. Today, the offspring of these vines has grown to a vineyard encompassing approximately 400 acres.

The 2009 Wente Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon is a great find for those looking for a true value wine. Aged for 14 months in second or third use oak gives this lovely wine a fine balance and smooth finish. It exhibits notes of plum, black cherry and cassis. This is a wonderful everyday wine, is medium-bodied and pairs well with veal, steak or grilled chicken. At about $12.99 this is a steal.
