Aumm Aumm is Yum Yum!

aumm aumm PizzeriaFinding hidden neighborhood gems is one of our favorite pastimes and with Aumm Aumm Pizzeria & Wine Bar we truly hit the jackpot. Driving down Broadway in North Bergen New Jersey, you are instantly drawn to Aumm Aumm. It looks warm and inviting, and you somehow just know at first glance, that the food will be fantastic. As it turned out, it exceeded all of our expectations.

Aumm Aumm, a Napolitano term for "hush hush”, or to keep on the down-low, is a great place to sneak off to and enjoy a fabulous meal. Although we would love to keep it to ourselves, it would be a crime not to share our newest favorite.

The mood at Aumm Aumm is lovely from the moment you open the door. The staff greets you with a kind smile and you immediately feel welcome. The décor is a true nod to Naples with a touch of industrial chic. The intimate dining room is perfect for a date or dinner with friends and family.

Aumm Aumm has an extensive wine list at very reasonable prices. Their passion for wine is clear, with more than 40 wines by the glass, giving customers the full wine bar experience.  The menu has a full range of appetizers, pastas, entrees and pizza, so you can dine there often and always have a unique experience.

For starters, you may want to try the Mediterranean octopus with light cherry tomato sauce, capers and black olives, Prosciutto di Parma served with sautéed sweet yellow and red peppers and bufala mozzarella or my personal favorite: braised tiny meatballs in slow cooked tomato sauce with Grana Padano cheese– these are just a few of the offerings, but all great choices. There is also a nice selection of salads.

The pastas all sound amazing. From the Gnocchetto Casareccio: homemade dumplings, plum tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, and grana Padano cheese to the Pennoni alla Genovese Napoletana: slow cooked beef and sweet caramelized onions sauce over large penne pasta and everything in between. We tried the Lasagnetta Spaccanapoli: baked Neapolitan lasagna, meatballs, ricotta, mozzarella and tomato sauce and the special Risotto of the day and both were outstanding.

The entrees offer something for everyone. A few good choices are Bruschetta di Pollo: juicy grilled chicken breast topped with diced fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and basil to the Tagliata di Manzo: grilled sliced beef tenderloin served over arugula, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze or the fish of the day poached in light tomato broth, baby clams, and fresh herbs.

The pizza is truly outstanding and made with a secret Neapolitan recipe. The pizza menu includes an array of mouthwatering options of both red and white pizzas, as well as a variety of Saltimbocca & Panuozzi: traditional wood fire pizza dough stretched and filled with delicious toppings.

Aumm Aumm is a wonderful addition to the area – try it for Italian, Pizza or a great glass of wine, no matter the occasion it’s an excellent choice.
