As part of the South Beach Wine and Food festivities this winter, the spectacular Marlins Stadium was transformed into the ultimate “foodie” experience. Julia Loria, wife of Miami Marlin’s owner, Jeff Loria, and baseball and food “passionista,” effectively converted the stadium into a culinary wonderland.
Julia, who is also the author of the new cookbook “Diamond Dishes,” which highlights the favorite recipes of the Marlins baseball players , ran the event to support the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts of Mayor's Fund for NYC Hurricane Relief and the Food Bank For New York City.
The evening, featuring special "guest manager" and celebrity chef Anne Burrell, began in The Clevelander lounge at Marlins Park, where a cocktail reception featured samples of the player’s recipes from Julia’s debut cookbook. Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson selected excellent wine pairings to accompany both the small plates and the fare of five remarkable female chefs from around the country.
These five celebrity lady chefs who are truly in “A League of their Own,” each had a station at one of the bases on the field. What fun it was mingling and tasting delicious dishes from each of these stars including;

Finally since every great “foodie” experience needs a satisfied sweet tooth, Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, served dessert in the dugout.
This was a great evening for a great cause—check out Julia Loria’s cookbook Diamond Dishes which has delish recipes and a baseball theme to make it a perfect coffee table book.
