Former Float and Cipriani guru Max Burgios has stepped out on his own to open the swanky new B & Co. Located on at 14 East 58th Street. Situated just next to Bergdorf Goodman Men's, B & Co. is comprised of a luxurious 80-seat restaurant on the first floor which is highlighted by opulent finishes featuring warm woods, plush leather seating and a luxurious marble bar, as well as pieces from renowned artist Marco Glavianos.
The second floor features a lounge area featuring a scaled-back tapas menu and for the more serious players, a private, members only club on the third floor, and rumor has it being launched under the moniker ‘Billionaire Room.’
Salvo Renta, formerly chef at La Mantia in Rome, is very capable and expertly executing mouth-watering and traditional southern Mediterranean cuisine at every turn. With a focus on seafood the menu delivers on every front. Some of my favorite starters included the Maine Lobster served with avocado and mango, the Stuffed Squid (bread, tomato, mint and lemon zest) and the Burrata “Pugliese.”
On the pasta side it is hard to go wrong with sublime Sea Urchin served with homemade Kamut and the Ermy Orecchiette with broccoli rabe and aromatic croutons. Moving on, the Mediterranean Branzino was certainly noteworthy, but it was the Octopus Provencal that truly stole my heart. One of the best ever and to no surprise, gleaned from a traditional family recipe.
B & Co. is quality NYC dining—comfortable, vibrant and serving up a memorable menu. The environment captures an elegance that is refreshing and top notch service that will keep me and their long list of regulars returning time and again.
