Escape to Upscale Barcelona at Toro NYC

toro nyc Just steps from the West Side Highway, in the former Nabisco factory in Chelsea, a delicious secret awaits. Toro is a modern Barcelona-style Tapas restaurant serving both traditional and contemporary tapas, as well as delectable Paella and grilled meats.

An import from Boston, Toro NYC is the second outpost for partners and award winning chefs, Jamie Bissonnette and Ken Oringer.

Enter the giant door of the former Nabisco factory to find an industrial space transformed into a warm, but trendy restaurant with a bustling crowd enjoying all of the delights that Toro has to offer.

The soaring ceilings are carefully decorated from top to bottom with elements that give the space an authentic Spanish upscale feel, while maintaining the charms of an inviting tapas restaurant – no wonder it has quickly become a NYC favorite.

The dinner menu has up to 60 items at times to satisfy every craving. Whether you are looking to taste a variety of dishes or just enjoy some delicious Paella and a bottle wine with friends, this is the perfect place for you.

Our party of five enjoyed multiple selections and some of our favorites include; Spanish classics like: Gambas Al Ajillo: griddled garlic shrimp with cascabel chilies, Patatas Bravas: fried potatoes with aioli and spicy tomato sauce, Chorizo y Garbanzos:chorizo and chickpea stew with braised greens and a hard cooked egg.

But two dishes that cannot be missed are: the Pulpo: Galician octopus with potatoes and charred onions and the Asado De Huesos: roasted bone marrow with radish citrus salad and beef cheek marmalade – these are quite “craveable” and will keep us coming back regularly.

While savoring these dishes we enjoyed a bottle of the 2004 La Rioja Alta 'Vina Ardanza Reserva' Tempranillo, a great choice for red.

Be sure to save room for dessert – the chocolate cream with Olive Oil ice cream is to die for!

Toro NYC is located at 85 10th Avenue, New York, NY 10011
