Gin Made from Wheat and Apples – Tuthilltown Scores Again!

| March 18, 2013

half moon ginThe innovation of Tuthilltown Spirits is once again shining with their Half Moon Orchard Gin. Named for the vessel in which Henry Hudson first explored the river bearing his namesake, this fine spirit is uniquely produced from New York wheat and apples. This unique and unusual approach creates a more fragrant base which requires a more careful embellishment of botanicals. Executed in a way that truly puts the exclamation on this superlative spirit, at 92-proof, this lovely gin packs a punch and is pure quality. It made for a clean and satisfying martini, and sang with the addition of tonic and lime—two classics to which it stood tall.

More gin varieties are expected in the near future, which will also be distilled from unique base grains and fruits. Tuthilltown has done it again.
