It’s a foodie’s favorite time of year when NYC celebrates Restaurant Week. In reality, the time frame extends beyond a week to include almost a month from January 14-February 8th (offers at participating restaurants only, excludes Saturday and Sunday is optional).
One must take advantage of this tremendous opportunity to try a 3-course, prix fixe lunch for $25, or dinner for $38 (gratuity and drinks not included) from some of NYC’s finest restaurants. This is a great time to try something new or to visit an old favorite again. Navigating through all of the participating restaurants can be a daunting task, so here are some of my favorites.

Nougatine – The food at this fantastic Jean Georges restaurant is just dreamy and to have an opportunity to try a 3-course meal for these bargain prices is something of a gift. Don’t miss the chance to eat here. Located at 1 Central Park West, (212) 299-3900
The Capital Grille – This is in my humble opinion by far the best deal for Restaurant Week. A sample of what you can actually order is a Caesar Salad, Filet Mignon, a side of Creamed Spinach and a Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake for only $38. Maialino – This is a chance to try one of NYC’s best Italian restaurants. They are only participating for lunch with the usual 3 courses for $25 or an upgrade for $35 that includes some pricier options. A suggested selection is to start off with a Salumi Misti and then the Tonnarelli a Cacio e Pepe, or the Panino de Porchetta. Finish with the Torta di Olia D’Oliva (olive oil cake with vanilla bean mascarpone). This is sure to be an unforgettable lunch. Located at Gramercy Park Hotel – 2 Lexington Ave, (212) 777-2410
Park Avenue Winter – There is something for everyone on their prix fixe menus with at least four options per course to choose from. With only a couple of months to go before they blossom into Park Avenue Spring (end of March), this is a must try! Here is just a sample suggestion from the extensive menu: to start try the Housemade Ricotta & Roasted Grapes, then either the Rigatoncini with Parmesan & Black Truffle or Berkshire Pork Chop. Finish with the Chilled Praline Parfait, Chocolate Crumbs & Caramel, Winter Spice Cake, or Ricotta Cheesecake Mousse & Roasted Apples. Located at 100 East 63rd Street at Park Avenue, (212) 644-1900
Lure Fishbar – Seafood lovers delight! Both the lunch and dinner menus are full of delicious selections that will satisfy all of your fresh seafood cravings. Polish off this surely tasty meal with the Warm Chocolate Cake accompanied by Salted Caramel Ice Cream and Candied Popcorn. Located at 142 Mercer St, (212) 431-7676
