Strip House – Las Vegas

striphouse las vegasHidden above the lively Planet Hollywood casino, is a remarkably quiet second floor promenade where you will find one of the best steakhouses in Las Vegas, Strip House.

Upon entering the red-velvety room, you are transformed to the sexy nightclub vibe of 1920’s almost instantly. The walls come alive with black and white photos of the gorgeous pinup models of the past in their most seductive poses (which are quite tame compared to today’s standards). The warm lighting enhances the mood even further and all at once, you have been taken away from the hustle and bustle of the casino just a flight below.

The restaurant was fairly busy the night we dined there, but we were escorted to a lovely corner table and greeted shortly thereafter by Robbie, our server, who was very helpful and delightfully attentive over the course of the evening.

After perusing the menu for quite some time we settled on a few appetizers and entrees -an array of choices including some of the specialties of the house.

We began with a taste of the rather dreamy lobster bisque and from that moment we knew we were in for a treat.ribeye

Our appetizers arrived shortly thereafter. We started with the New England Sea Scallops served with Edamame Succotash, Black Truffle Butter and Corn Broth, in addition to the Strip House Roasted Bacon (similar to a crispy pork belly) – both equally delicious and quite different from the usual steak house appetizer offerings.

In between courses, we polished off an enjoyable glass of the Framingham Sauvignon Blanc while Robbie filled us in on some of the Las Vegas specialties (12 oz bone-in Filet) and the improvements to the overall experience since new owners BR Guest Hospitality took over in 2011.  There is an added warmth and customer service that enhances the entire experience.

We continued our surfmac and cheese and turf theme sharing two entrees; Roasted Chilean Sea Bass with Swiss Chard, Jalapeno Potato Puree and Red Wine Sauce, as well as the most succulent steak I have ever had, the Ribeye. I can’t say enough about this steak- it was perfectly seasoned and cooked so well that I couldn’t stop myself from finishing every bite. With our entrees we enjoyed a glass of the Angel’s Landing Cabernet.

To accompany our entrees we ordered three sides. The Black Truffle Creamed Spinach and The Potatoes Romanoff were delicious but our clear favorite was the Mac & Cheese. It was truly to die for!

As a perfect ending we had the delchocolate layer cakeectable Caramelized Banana Tart with sugared pecans and vanilla ice cream along with the famed Strip House Chocolate Cake. The cake has 24 layers of decadent chocolate and is a must for chocolate lovers. For those who can’t make it to the restaurant, you can now purchase it online.
