Ernesto Catena Tahuan Malbec 2010

| December 13, 2012

The offspring of the famous Argentinean Catena family delivers a quality Malbec that stands on its own. Ernesto, the son of Nicholas Ernesto Catena tahuan malbecCatena, one of the most popular producers in Mendoza, was born into the wine business and understandably learned some of the best winemaking techniques from his father.

Ernesto’s artistic flair and desire to create something different inspired him to start his own winery in 2002. He wanted to run smaller volumes of high quality wines that reflected his beliefs and lifestyle.

One label, Tahuan was created as a tribute to the Tahuantinsuyu, the land of Inca culture. After the Incas peacefully conquered most of the Andean Tribes, they created a system of roads connecting all the Andean micro-cultures from Quito to Mendoza in order to re-unite the people.

The 2010 Ernesto Catena Tahuan Malbec is a wine that displays all that you could want from a great Argentinean Malbec. Already gaining attention in the wine world, this beauty scored 88 points from The Wine Advocate’s Robert Parker. With its deep purple color and aromas of dark berries and vanilla, it draws you in immediately. This medium bodied wine exhibits well-balanced, delicious ripe fruits with a luscious finish.
