Where to Celebrate New Years Eve in NYC:

toro nycThe New Year’s Eve tradition in Spain is called “Nocheviaje," the old night. Hours before midnight, hordes of people gather in Madrid’s Puerta Del Sol to await the chiming of the clock tower heralding in the New Year.

This year Co-Chef Owners Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette invite you to experience “Nocheviaje” at Toro in the former Nabisco Factory in South Chelsea.  This incarnation of a Barcelona-style tapas bar, features traditional and modern tapas, wine and cocktails, and celebrates regional Spanish flavors.

On New Year’s Eve join in the celebration at a Masquerade Party running from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and featuring a DJ, Dancing, a raw bar, pinchos, which are small Spanish Kabobs   and an open bar with signature TORO cocktails. Tickets are $250 all-inclusive and can be bought exclusively on Resy by visiting clicking this link. Cocktail Attire required. For more information go to toro-nyc.com

lido interior 2Spend New Year’s Eve at our favorite “hidden treasure” in Harlem.  Chef Serena Bass is serving a choice of a three or four course menu at two seatings; 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The Primi Course is a choice shiitake mushroom soup with toast and truffle butter, grilled shrimp with roasted cauliflower and romesco sauce or a gorgonzola and polenta tart with caramelized pear, served with arugula, basil and walnut salad.
The pasta course is a choice of Lobster Ravioli with jumbo lump crab, and roasted tomato and white wine veloute, Rigatoni Mezzu, with ragu of sausage, chilis, cream, lemon, parsley and thyme, Pappardelle with Prosciutto and Mascarpone or Black Rice and Barley Pilaf with roasted butternut squash, kale and hazelnuts.
For the Main Course choose between Pepper Crusted filet mignon with deep fried artichoke hearts and mashed potatoes, Duck Risotto with roasted cabbage and crisp duck cracklings, Pan Seared Halibut in Charmoula with baby green pea and mint risotto or a Vegetarian Entrée of a spinach soufflé with currants and Agrodolce marinara sauce.
The Dolci (dessert course) has a choice of Chocolate Rum Tiramisu, an Amalfi Lemon Tart with lemon sorbet or a warm, Italian Apple Cake with caramel sauce and mascarpone gelato – YUM.

Besides being one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants, this is also a great value considering how wonderful the food is.  All four courses are only $69. Skip the pasta course and the three courses are $54.

The bar will be a la carte all evening and a complimentary champagne toast will be offered at midnight.
